What is the Association


The Trento Amateur Astronomers Association is an apolitical, cultural organization, founded in Trento in 1976.
Its Deed of partnership and its Charter were registered in 1981. Organs of the Association are the Assembly of the members, which meets once a year at least, and the Board of Governors.

Aim of the Association is to improve the astronomical knowledge in a broad sense: therefore, it plans its activity in order to support meetings and collaboration of the members, and to promote the diffusion of astronomical culture at every level. To achieve these results, throughout the year are organized - on internal initiative or on external request - didactic cycles, observations of the sky, debates, lectures and so on.

The Association owns some instruments to observe the sky, and also a considerable book collection, deposited at the center of the association that is to the Tower of the Massarelli in SS. Trinità street, 32/1 to Trento. The bibliographical panorama is very wide and variegated: there are handbooks for beginners and for experts; sky atlases and star catalogues; almanacs and ephemerides; historical books; reports of past NASA missions; the collection of "Sky & Telescope", that of the Italian Amateur Astronomers Union (UAI) news-bulletin and that of the Italian Astronomical Society (SAIt) news-bulletin.

The Trento Amateur Astronomers Association is UAI territorial delegation for the Valle dell'Adige, the Piana Rotaliana, the Alta Valsugana and the Val di Non.
