|Bird of paradise
|No star of the constellation exceeds the magnitude 3,5.
|Not very remarkable constellation, near the South Pole. The only star of a certain interest is delta Apodis, toward the center of the constellation, one double constituted by two orange giants, visible with binoculars.
|The constellation was drawn by the Dutch navigators Pieters Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederik de Houtman towards the end of the XVI century. It represents one of the birds of paradise which live in New Guinea.
